Why I want to Scale Up My Coaching and Consulting Business

I mentioned in the About Page of this blog that "I  stopped working full time a few months after I got married because I felt the Lord's call to prioritize building a family."  I also said that "since then, I only accept projects that entail me to work from home most of the time or takes me away from home occassionally. Moreover, I chose not to accept work projects that entail me to be out of the house during the first six months of my babies."  That was God's call to me years ago.

This year, I feel God calling me to GROW and step out of my comfort zone.  He wants me to do this by SCALING UP what I had been doing in the past years so I could serve more people through the talents He has blessed me with.  Does this contradict His earlier call to me to prioritize building a family? Not at all.  He has not called me to be an employee again.  He simply wants me to put more order, strategy and planning into what I had been doing in the past years and still have ample time with my family especially with my small kids.

That's me after Day 2 of the Wealth Summit.
I attended the 3-day Wealth Summit of Bo Sanchez' Truly Rich Club which ran from March 1 to 3 to act on this call and prompting from the Lord.  Today was the third day of the Summit and we were asked by one of the speakers our BIG REASON for wanting to scale up our businesses.  He said that we should write it down.  So, I'm writing this post to write down my BIG WHY.

This is my BIG WHY.

I feel a burden in my heart every time God leads me to meditate on these passages: the parable of the talents and the parable of the sower.  God reminds me through these passages that He did not allow me to go through all my experiences without a purpose and for my benefit or my immediate family's benefit alone.  He wants me to use my talents and experience to help more people who need my guidance and expertise.  He wants me to share my story so that more people would be inspired.  God's prompting is so strong that I can't ignore it.  He also makes His Will so obvious to me through the doors of opportunities He has been allowing me to see.  I acknowledge that this growing and scaling up that God has called me to do would not be easy.  But I choose to do it anyway because I trust in God's mercy and unfailing love.  I know that He will supply whatever I need as I choose to respond to His call.  Most of all, I want to love Him by obeying Him and acting on His Word.  That is my ultimate BIG WHY for desiring to SCALE UP.

Tonight, God confirmed this BIG WHY through a message I got in my inbox.  You can see it below.

Do I have other BIG WHY's?  Yes, I do!

My next BIG WHY is this: I want to keep on spending a lot of time with my family, especially my kids who are still very young.  I want to personally witness more of their milestones as they grow older.  It has been my joy to witness most if not all of their important milestones since I gave birth to both of them.  I want to see more!  I want to be a strong influence in molding their characters and values until they are teens or young adults and I believe that I can best achieve this goal if I'm not working fulltime as an employee but doing consultancy work or freelance work like what I had been doing in the past years.

They are my inspirations.
My last BIG WHY but definitely not the least is this: I want to help my husband discover what he's really passionate about and help him build a business out of it.  I want him to get out of the rat race and do the things that energize him and make him truly happy.  I want him to work at something that he isn't obliged or forced to do so he can support his family.  I want to give him the freedom and luxury to choose what he wants to work on while at the same time fulfilling his role in our family of being the main provider.  And, I want him to enjoy being with me and our boys undisturbed by work concerns and unhurried by work schedules or deadlines.  I want him to experience the joy and fulfillment of being in active service in our community again just like when we were still single.

Those are my three BIG WHY'S. :)

How about you?  Do you want to work from home, do consultancy work or freelance work like me?  Do you want to start your own business?  Do you want to scale up what you're currently doing to earn income for your family?

If your answer to any of these questions is YES, I highly recommend that you join Bo Sanchez' Truly Rich Club.  You'll learn a lot not just from Bo but from the other mentors in the club.  I sure learned a lot this weekend!  And I'm still hungry for more!  Join us!  Let's learn together!  Click here and start your exciting journey!  You can also email me at teregmps@yahoo.com if you're interested to find out how I started working from home, what kind of work or projects I do as I work from home, and how I got to become a consultant. I'll share with you my story.

P.S. Read the interview feature about me published at WAHMderful life website, where Work-At-Homemakers get support and experience sisterhood. Click here to go to read that interview.

Update as of March 8, 2013: My husband helped me put up a simple website while we are evaluating our options on how to build my membership site for my HR services.  It's still a work in progress but it already contains a lot of the information about the services I offer.  Please check it out here.

  7. God-sized dream, wow! I'd love to discover God's dream for me too. I currently work from home but I feel like 24 hours in a day is just not enough for everything I need to do.

  9. Like you, I also made a commitment to myself and my husband to stop work, leave behind my lucrative career and become a work from home wife. I do miss the prestige my past job gave me but having quality time and spending all important occasions with my family are more important for me. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I sometimes miss those days. But, I don't see myself going back to being an employee anymore. I think I would do all I can to make this new business work!

  10. Great read! I was a sahm-turned-wahm. My son has turned a year old recently, and we're having a few setbacks challenging our finances. My husband has a day job. I am a mum and wife, breastfeeding peer counselor (free, ultimately my passion), mompreneur (a business that we want to grow) and a freelancer all rolled in one. But now, I feel like God's leading me somewhere. I was told I don't have to sacrifice my primary role; and at the same time, it can help with the finances. So I'm praying, praying hard.

  12. I just posted about the Parable of the Talents on my blog! I am a WAHM and I am very thankful for that because I can spend time with my son while "still" earning for a living.

  13. I feel you! I've also made a BIG decision to become a stay-at-home a few years back. I think what matters most we achieve life balance. Right now I've still finding a way to make my passion work for me (well aside from blogging) so thank you for this inspiring story of yours. :)

  15. I admire people like you. Taking care of the family and still has ways to earn from home. Working outside of home really takes a lot of your time.

  16. Since I'm pregnant right now, I'm actually feeling the opposite. Instead of scaling up, I feel I'm being called to slow down a bit and focus most of my time and energy into my family. Best wishes on your plans though. For sure, you'll do great! :)

  19. I also left my corporate job to do what I really love which is blogging and makeup. I've been blogging for a year now and this year I started to become a freelance makeup artist. I'm at home most of the time blogging if I have I no event or makeup gig and I get to spend my free time with my little man.

    1. I honestly want to start living my dream of having a restaurant and being a makeup artist, all while watching my kids grow to be awesome people. :3 of course though, with those aspirations, I know how difficult it is and how pricey it is to enroll in a proper makeup school, which is why I enrolled in a 5 day advanced makeup workshop in SOFA instead of a 50 hour one.. I now am slowly building my tools, and then afterwards my portfolio :)

  20. My husband and I are in this phase in our family life na we're starting to make this very 'adulting' choices na we've been trying to avoid. We've been WAHM/WAHD for the past 5 years, but we're starting to realize, we need to give the boys a better home and better life. I think that is the goal of every parent naman. But this would mean na he'll work outside na and I'll have to work with more jobs or at least one steady WAH job and have others on the side too. It's an exciting season and a frightening one too. But God willing, they will happen. We're just praying really hard for them and listening intently with God will reveal to us.
